For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump is speak­ing at a local black church for com­mu­ni­ty round­table in Detroit, Michi­gan, at 3 p.m. ET.
Trump is hop­ing to appeal to minor­i­ty vot­ers in the state, as about 78% of the city’s pop­u­la­tion is black.

“Pres­i­dent Don­ald J. Trump, 45th Pres­i­dent of the Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca, will vis­it Detroit to lis­ten to mem­bers of the com­mu­ni­ty,” a state­ment from Trump’s cam­paign said. “Pres­i­dent Trump will dis­cuss how Joe Biden has failed the great peo­ple of Detroit and the State of Michi­gan.”
He lost the state 50.62% to 47.84% in 2020 but nar­row­ly won 47.50% to 47.27% in 2016. In both elec­tions, he lost Wayne Coun­ty, which encom­pass­es most of inner-city Detroit and is where the church is locat­ed. The coun­ty was the state’s largest vot­ing coun­ty in the past two elec­tions.
