Social Security update: September direct payment worth 3 goes out in 25 days

Mil­lions of ben­e­fi­cia­ries can expect to see their Sep­tem­ber Sup­ple­men­tal Secu­ri­ty Income pay­ment, worth up to $943, on Aug. 30.
SSI pay­ments are giv­en to those liv­ing with a debil­i­tat­ing dis­abil­i­ty that affects one’s income, accord­ing to the Social Secu­ri­ty Admin­is­tra­tion.
Fil­ers need to be at least par­tial­ly blind or have a “phys­i­cal or men­tal condition(s) that seri­ous­ly lim­its their dai­ly activ­i­ties for a peri­od of 12 months or more or may be expect­ed to result in death” to be eli­gi­ble.
SSI pay­ments are typ­i­cal­ly sent on the first of each month, but when the begin­ning of the month falls on a week­end, the checks are sent the pre­vi­ous Fri­day. In Sep­tem­ber, the first of the month falls on a Sun­day, mean­ing recip­i­ents will receive their pay­ment on Aug. 30, giv­ing retirees two pay­ments in August.
