Trump Says Peter Navarro Will Join His Second Administration

Trump Says Peter Navarro Will Join His Second Administration

President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Peter Navarro will be rejoining his administration as his senior counselor for Trade and Manufacturing.

Navarro was a former trade adviser to Trump in his first administration. He previously served four months in federal prison after he failed to comply with a Jan. 6 Committee subpoena, instead invoking executive privilege to decline to testify and turn over documents to the committee. Trump wrote Wednesday in a Truth Social post that Navarro has been treated “horribly by the Deep State” and will help advance his agenda in a second administration.

“The Senior Counselor position leverages Peter’s broad range of White House experience, while harnessing his extensive Policy analytic and Media skills. His mission will be to help successfully advance and communicate the Trump Manufacturing, Tariff, and Trade Agendas,” Trump wrote.

“Peter is not just a superb, Harvard-trained Economist, he is a noted author of more than a dozen bestselling books on strategic business management and unfair Trade. He did a superb job for the American People in my First Term. Peter will do even better as Senior Counselor to protect American Workers, and truly Make American Manufacturing Great Again,” he continued.

Ahead of serving time in prison in the summer of 2024, Navarro was arrested by FBI agents in June 2022 at Ronald Reagan National Airport and charged in the U.S. District Court of Washington, D.C. The Trump official previously told the Daily Caller that his time in prison was “dangerous” and not like the “Club Fed” experience others had described it to be.

Navarro previously told the Daily Caller that his time in prison has not been like the “Club Fed” that many are describing it to be.

Trump’s newest senior counselor for Trade and Manufacturing was able to leave prison in July ahead of the RNC convention and make an appearance where he was greeted with a standing ovation.

“This morning, I did walk out of federal prison. If they can come for me, if they can come for Donald Trump, be careful. They will come for you,” Navarro said in his speech. “Here’s how I got in prison. The legislative branch came for me first. Your favorite Democrat Nancy Pelosi created your favorite committee, the sham January 6th committee which demanded that I … violate executive privilege. What did I do? I refused.”

“I went to prison so you won’t have to. I am your wake up call,” he added.
