FACT CHECK: No, The Harris Campaign Did Not Post A Tweet Accusing A Conservative Media Outlet Of Racism

An image shared on Insta­gram pur­ports to show a tweet from 2024 Demo­c­ra­t­ic nom­i­nee Vice Pres­i­dent Kamala Har­ris’ cam­paign head­quar­ters accus­ing con­ser­v­a­tive media out­let Total News of racism, hatred, and big­otry.

The claim is false, as the Har­ris campaign’s ver­i­fied X account is @KamalaHQ, not @KamalaHQPress. An advanced search does not gen­er­ate any results for the pur­port­ed tweet via the account @KamalaHQ.

Fact Check:

Despite los­ing the 2024 elec­tion to Pres­i­dent-Elect Don­ald Trump, Har­ris’ cam­paign is still ask­ing sup­port­ers for dona­tions, accord­ing to Fox News. Har­ris’ cam­paign raised $1.4 bil­lion but is alleged­ly fac­ing $20 mil­lion in debt, the out­let report­ed, cit­ing Politi­co.

The Insta­gram image, which has received over 100 likes as of writ­ing, pur­ports to show a tweet from Har­ris’ cam­paign head­quar­ters accus­ing Total News of racism, hatred, and big­otry.

“The con­ser­v­a­tive media out­let @TotalNews on Insta­gram is spew­ing out hatred, racism, and big­otry. They called Kamala Har­ris a “los­ing b**ch,” which is uncalled for and sex­ist. Avoid this page,” the text of the pur­port­ed tweet reads. Accord­ing to the same image, the pur­port­ed tweet appears to have been shared by the account @KamalaHQPress.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact con­duct­ed an advanced search on X for the pur­port­ed tweet and found no results match­ing the tweet’s con­tents or the sup­posed account. Like­wise, an advanced search of the Har­ris campaign’s ver­i­fied X account, @KamalaHQ, also does not gen­er­ate any results for the pur­port­ed tweet. Har­ris has not com­ment­ed on the claim via her offi­cial web­site or her ver­i­fied social media accounts, either.

In addi­tion, Check Your Fact found no cred­i­ble news reports to sup­port the claim. Actu­al­ly, the oppo­site is true. On Decem­ber 2, USA Today debunked the claim, indi­cat­ing the image is fab­ri­cat­ed. (RELATED: Claim Michelle Oba­ma Regrets Endors­ing Har­ris Is False)
