Trump Announces More Cabinet Picks

Pres­i­dent-elect Don­ald Trump announced sev­er­al key appoint­ments for his upcom­ing admin­is­tra­tion Tues­day, includ­ing the com­mis­sion­er of the IRS and the head of the Small Busi­ness Admin­is­tra­tion.

Trump stat­ed that his nom­i­nees pos­sess the nec­es­sary exper­tise and ded­i­ca­tion to fos­ter eco­nom­ic pros­per­i­ty.

Trump announced his intent to nom­i­nate Dr. Michael William Faulk­ender as the deputy sec­re­tary of the Trea­sury. Faulk­ender is a not­ed econ­o­mist and aca­d­e­m­ic. His resume includes a stint as the assis­tant sec­re­tary for Eco­nom­ic Pol­i­cy dur­ing Trump’s first admin­is­tra­tion in addi­tion to cur­rent roles at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mary­land and the Amer­i­ca First Pol­i­cy Insti­tute.

For­mer Repub­li­can U.S. Sen. Kel­ly Loef­fler of Geor­gia is also tapped to lead the Small Busi­ness Admin­is­tra­tion (SBA). Loef­fler has an exten­sive career in finance and tech­nol­o­gy and is expect­ed to dri­ve ini­tia­tives that bol­ster small busi­ness­es and min­i­mize gov­ern­ment waste.

For­mer Repub­li­can U.S. Rep. Bil­ly Long of Mis­souri is also nom­i­nat­ed as the com­mis­sion­er of the Inter­nal Rev­enue Ser­vice (IRS). Long, renowned for his busi­ness acu­men in real estate and his leg­isla­tive expe­ri­ence, is tasked with enhanc­ing IRS ser­vice deliv­ery and com­pli­ance ini­tia­tives.

David A. War­ring­ton is appoint­ed as assis­tant to the pres­i­dent and coun­sel to the pres­i­dent. War­ring­ton, Trump’s for­mer cam­paign legal coun­sel and a respect­ed con­ser­v­a­tive fig­ure, will over­see the Office of White House Coun­sel.

William Joseph McGin­ley has been named coun­sel to the Depart­ment of Gov­ern­ment Effi­cien­cy (DOGE), where he will col­lab­o­rate with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to stream­line gov­ern­ment oper­a­tions and reduce reg­u­la­to­ry bur­dens. Trump said McGin­ley will focus on reduc­ing exces­sive reg­u­la­tions, curb­ing gov­ern­ment spend­ing, and elim­i­nat­ing waste, while work­ing close­ly with the White House and the Office of Man­age­ment and Bud­get to stream­line fed­er­al oper­a­tions.

Trump has nom­i­nat­ed Gail Slater as assis­tant attor­ney gen­er­al for the Antitrust Divi­sion of the Depart­ment of Jus­tice. Trump said that under Slater’s lead­er­ship, the DOJ will con­tin­ue to com­bat the over­whelm­ing mar­ket dom­i­nance of Big Tech, which he claims has sup­pressed com­pe­ti­tion and infringed on con­sumer rights.

Trump also heaped prais­es on and con­grat­u­lat­ed Frank Bisig­nano and tapped him to be com­mis­sion­er of the Social Secu­ri­ty Admin­is­tra­tion. It was pre­vi­ous­ly report­ed that Trump appoint­ed Mon­i­ca Crow­ley to three key diplo­mat­ic posi­tions: U.S. ambas­sador, assis­tant sec­re­tary of State, and chief of pro­to­col. Trump announced on Truth Social that Crow­ley, a sea­soned pub­lic ser­vant and media fig­ure, will lead U.S. rep­re­sen­ta­tion at major inter­na­tion­al events such as America’s 250th Birth­day, the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics in Los Ange­les.

Trump nom­i­nat­ed Paul Atkins ear­li­er Tues­day as the next chair­man of the Secu­ri­ties & Exchange Com­mis­sion (SEC). Trump laud­ed Atkins, CEO of Patomak Glob­al Part­ners, as a “proven leader” com­mit­ted to fos­ter­ing inno­v­a­tive and respon­sive cap­i­tal mar­kets.
