Call Her Daddy host mocks cardboard set built by Harris campaign for podcast interview

Call Her Daddy host mocks cardboard set built by Harris campaign for podcast interview

The host of the Call Her Daddy podcast expressed her dismay over a Washington Examiner report on the Kamala Harris campaign spending six figures on building a makeshift set for the show, saying, “It was gorgeous but it wasn’t that nice.”

The Washington Examiner previously reported how the Harris campaign blew through more than $1 billion during its doomed fight with now-President-elect Donald Trump. A source familiar told the Washington Examiner of the expenditure related to Call Her Daddy. The Harris campaign has not dismissed the figure, and in a recent podcast interview of her own, campaign Chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon defended the payment in order to reach voters.

When asked about it by the New York Times, host Alex Cooper attempted to dismiss the sum and also offered up some details about the interview.

“My studio that is gorgeous in Los Angeles doesn’t even cost six figures, so I don’t know how cardboard walls could cost six figures,” Cooper told the New York Times of the Washington, D.C., set, meant to look like her Los Angeles studio. She also mentioned it took place in a “random house.”

Cooper and the crowd laughed after her quip that the makeshift studio “wasn’t that nice.”

“It wasn’t like gorgeous marble, like no that was not six figures,” she added.

Cooper interviewed Harris in early October with the episode’s main focus falling on abortion. Harris mentioned a variety of standard campaign points but also hit back at her GOP detractors for how she does not have biological children, calling such rhetoric “mean-spirited.”

However, while the episode lit a GOP firestorm regarding Harris’s appearance on the woman-focused podcast, it didn’t generate the attention that Trump’s interview on the Joe Rogan Experience later did, on which Harris has been criticized for not appearing.

Cooper also mentioned that Trump’s team was interested in appearing on her podcast, though he never did. Cooper said she was not directly involved in the talks.
