Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson has all but secured the Democratic nomination in one of the nation’s most closely watched Senate races after dominating the party’s delegate selection process over the weekend, prompting his two strongest rivals to suspend their campaigns ahead of next week’s state convention.
Jackson won overwhelming victories across Maine’s county meetings, with more than two-thirds of the 601 delegates pledging to back him at Saturday’s Democratic convention in Bangor.
