Thune to skip White House AI meet­ing with Trump, John­son, and tech CEOs

Sen­ate Major­i­ty Leader John Thune (R‑SD) will not attend the high­ly antic­i­pat­ed meet­ing on arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence with Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, Speak­er Mike John­son (R‑LA), and tech CEOs at the White House on Tues­day.
Thune told reporters on Capi­tol Hill on Mon­day that he would not be at the meet­ing as the Trump admin­is­tra­tion and Con­gress con­tend with calls from AI fron­tier mod­el devel­op­ers for a coor­di­nat­ed, inter­na­tion­al devel­op­ment slow­down.
