Politi­cians ‘freaked out’ over trans­gen­der mes­sage in cam­paign ads: Tiana Lowe Doesch­er 

Wash­ing­ton Exam­in­er eco­nom­ics colum­nist Tiana Lowe Doesch­er said she sup­ports fed­er­al inter­ven­tion to ensure that bio­log­i­cal males who iden­ti­fy as women can’t com­pete in women’s sports.“At the fed­er­al lev­el, the exec­u­tive branch does put a thumb on the pulse of this with Title IX enforce­ment,” Doesch­er said Mon­day on CNN’s This Morning.During the pre­vi­ous elec­tion cycle, Repub­li­cans ran on what they described as “com­mon sense poli­cies” such as block­ing trans­gen­der women from com­pet­ing in women’s sports, and crit­i­cized Democ­rats who opposed a ban. How­ev­er, sev­er­al Democ­rats, espe­cial­ly those in red-lean­ing dis­tricts, seem to be chang­ing their mes­sag­ing and back­track­ing on pro-trans­gen­der stances in their lat­est cam­paign ads.
