Ten­nessee Death Row Inmate On Ven­ti­la­tor After Botched Exe­cu­tion

Ten­nessee death row inmate Christa Pike is uncon­scious and on a ven­ti­la­tor fol­low­ing Wednes­day night’s botched exe­cu­tion attempt, her attor­neys said. 
Pike remains hos­pi­tal­ized with “seri­ous effects” from the attempt, includ­ing sig­nif­i­cant injuries to both arms, her attor­neys said in a state­ment.
“Christa remains crit­i­cal­ly ill and is receiv­ing med­ical care for the dev­as­tat­ing effects of Wednes­day night’s events,” the lawyers’ state­ment read. “She is crit­i­cal­ly ill, uncon­scious, intu­bat­ed and receiv­ing breath­ing assis­tance through a ven­ti­la­tor.”
Her attor­neys also filed an emer­gency motion to “pro­tect and pre­serve” all evi­dence relat­ed to the botched exe­cu­tion.
