Trump supporters share upside-down flags across X after guilty verdict

For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump is now a con­vict­ed felon, and in protest, his sup­port­ers are now shar­ing upside-down Amer­i­can flags all across X. 
Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of fal­si­fy­ing busi­ness records by a Man­hat­tan jury Thurs­day, in his hush mon­ey tri­al.
Notable accounts shar­ing the invert­ed Amer­i­can flag include Rep. Mar­jorie Tay­lor Greene (R‑GA), Fox News con­trib­u­tors Katie Pavlich and Guy Ben­son and con­ser­v­a­tive com­men­ta­tor Dan Bongi­no.

Accord­ing to U.S. flag code, which is unen­force­able, fly­ing the flag upside down is “an inter­na­tion­al sig­nal of dis­tress.”

The upside down flag has been wide­ly talked about recent­ly, after pho­tos sur­faced of Supreme Court Jus­tice Samuel Ali­to and his wife’s house fly­ing it after the Jan. 6, 2021 riots. A New York Times arti­cle revealed they hung an invert­ed Amer­i­can flag out­side their home, which Alito’s wife claims has no con­nec­tion to the riots and instead was a response to hate­ful sig­nage their neigh­bors had been post­ing.
