Mayorkas impeachment creates ‘biggest threat’ of the year for two vulnerable Democrats

GOP strate­gists say Sens. Jon Tester (D‑MT) and Sher­rod Brown (D‑OH) are vul­ner­a­ble with House Speak­er Mike John­son (D‑LA) plan­ning to present Sen­ate Major­i­ty Leader Chuck Schumer (D‑NY) with two arti­cles of impeach­ment of Ale­jan­dro May­orkas when Con­gress returns from recess.
A vote against the arti­cles of impeach­ment would anger a strong base of con­ser­v­a­tive con­stituents.
Polls showed that immi­gra­tion is vot­ers’ top con­cern this elec­tion cycle, and both Tester and Brown live in states Trump won in 2020. 
“They’re caught between their base and what the major­i­ty of their state wants,” a Sen­ate GOP strate­gist told the Hill. “I would say it’s the biggest threat to Sher­rod Brown and Jon Tester, specif­i­cal­ly. It’s a real­ly, real­ly bad issue for them.”
