The deadline to remove pro-Palestinian supporters from the encampment at Columbia University has been extended until 8 a.m., according to a report from WCKR-FM, the student-run radio station of Columbia University.
According to the New York Times, the original deadline was Wednesday at 12:00 a.m., which the university set late Tuesday. After the deadline, the New York Police Department was supposed to begin removing protestors from the area, according to reports.
Columbia announced it was in discussions with encampment organizers and leaders to establish a deadline for its removal, the New York Times reported. The university declared it would use “alternative options” to clear the protest area after the deadline passed, according to reports.
