WATCH: Schnei­der, Solomon Dis­cuss ‘Most Com­pre­hen­sive’ Report on Facebook’s Elec­tion Inter­fer­ence

MRC Free Speech Amer­i­ca Vice Pres­i­dent Dan Schnei­der addressed over a decade of ram­pant Face­book elec­tion inter­fer­ence in a con­ver­sa­tion with Just the News founder John Solomon. 
Dur­ing the April 24 edi­tion of Just the News, No Noise, Schnei­der went after Meta CEO Mark Zucker­burg and Face­book for 39 instances of elec­tion inter­fer­ence between 2008 and 2024. “Face­book has engaged in cen­sor­ship over and over and over,” Schnei­der said in response to an MRC Spe­cial Report.
The report demon­strat­ed a pat­tern of Face­book cen­sor­ing free speech, includ­ing silenc­ing crit­i­cism of Pres­i­dent Barack Obama’s han­dling of the fall of the U.S. Embassy in Beng­hazi and muz­zling Repub­li­can can­di­dates for office dur­ing the 2022 midterm elec­tions. 
Solomon praised the “extra­or­di­nary detail” of the study and called it the “most com­pre­hen­sive review of Facebook’s inter­ven­tions.”
In response to a ques­tion from co-host Aman­da Head, Schnei­der point­ed out that these 39 instances are just the tip of the ice­berg of Face­book cen­sor­ship, but empha­sized that they are seri­ous, care­ful­ly researched exam­ples of Face­book putting its thumb on the elec­toral scale.
