Nevada Republicans sue election officials over ‘impossibly high’ voter registration

Repub­li­cans in Neva­da accused the state of hav­ing a sus­pi­cious­ly high num­ber of reg­is­tered vot­ers in a law­suit filed this week.
The law­suit, filed against Demo­c­ra­t­ic Sec­re­tary of State Cis­co Aguilar and five local elec­tion offi­cials, alleges that the vot­er tab­u­la­tion in five coun­ties is “impos­si­bly high” and vio­lates the Nation­al Vot­er Reg­is­tra­tion Act. Repub­li­cans said that in three coun­ties, the num­ber of reg­is­tered vot­ers is more than 90% of the adult pop­u­la­tion in those coun­ties.
“Nevada’s impos­si­bly high reg­is­tra­tion rates, large rates of inac­tive reg­is­tered vot­ers, low num­bers of removals, and incon­sis­tent enforce­ment across coun­ties indi­cate an ongo­ing, sys­temic prob­lem with its vot­er-list main­te­nance efforts,” the law­suit reads.
