Joe Lieberman dead: Former senator dies at 82

For­mer Demo­c­ra­t­ic Con­necti­cut Sen. Joe Lieber­man has died at age 82.
Lieber­man was also the run­ning mate for Demo­c­ra­t­ic pres­i­den­tial can­di­date Al Gore, mak­ing him the first Jew­ish nom­i­nee. He went on to play a key role in the cen­trist No Labels third-par­ty move­ment.

His fam­i­ly announced in a state­ment that the cause of his death was due to com­pli­ca­tions result­ing from a fall.
